ABOUT THE ROLE

You will work closely with the project team, subcontractors and key project stakeholders managing all commercial concepts, practices and procedures from project commencement through to completion. You must have a good understanding of commercial contract law, drafting subcontract agreements, assessing payment claims and variations, enforcing adherence to contractual terms and risk management. The position will also involve junior and peer mentoring to ensure development and skill transfer within the business.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Measure retained work packages (concrete & carpentry)
  • Prepare detailed estimates from tender/consent documents
  • Assist in forming tender strategy for new tenders
  • Maintain and improve subcontractor and supplier base
  • Continue to build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Request & receive subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Prepare schedule of quantities
  • Estimate the cost of retained work packages from first principles
  • Prepare tender submission

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in commercial estimating
  • National Diploma in Quantity Surveying or other relevant tertiary qualification
  • Background in trade is advantageous
  • CostX experience preferred but not required
